Sunrise elopements in the mountains are so beautiful. Austin and Makayla’s day was no exception. We had been dealing with a ton of rain this summer and we were slightly concerned about rain that was in the forecast. We made a last minute decision to switch their Officers Gulch Elopement from sunset to sunrise and I am so glad that we did. We got the most gorgeous morning weather with low clouds that were so dreamy. Sunrise is incredible. Particularly if you want to worry less about a bunch of people being at your public elopement location. It is always worth waking up for sunrise.

If you haven’t heard of Officers Gulch, you can check out the trailhead here. Its easily accessible off i-70 and a very easy trail around the pond. Makes it a good winter location too since it is right off the highway. Officers Gulch is also a permit-free location that you can elope at with minimal guests.
