Moab Elopement at Dead Horse Point State Park
Jacob and Stephanie’s Moab Elopement
This day. Every moment was so incredible. I actually drove out to Moab a few days in advanced to explore the area. I think Moab elopements might just be my new favorite thing. Dead Horse Point State park in particular makes for a wonderful location to elope. If you are considering planning a Dead Horse Point State Park Elopement (or other Moab area wedding) reach out to me! I would love to help you navigate how to get permits at the parks in the area to do just that.
Jacob and Stephanie had camped out here months earlier and knew this was the perfect location to get married. They particularly chose to have a Moab elopement and say their vows at Dead Horse Point State park due to the fact that they allow dogs. While arches is also a very sought after park to elope in, they do not allow dogs in the park and that was a deal breaker. Not to mention, Arches is an INSANELY busy park. They require reservations to get in to help control crowds, and unless its around sunrise there will always be people around. Dead Horse was the perfect location to avoid people. They got married on a Thursday evening in early May, and we literally saw maybe 5 other people in the park.
Under Canvas Moab
We started the day out at Under Canvas Moab. If you don’t know about Under Canvas, you should. This spot is an epic glamping spot which makes for a gorgeous backdrop to photos. It is also very aesthetically pleasing. It was the perfect place for me to capture their detail and getting ready photos. The Moab location also has fire pits and smore’s stations, complimentary activities such as morning yoga, and awesome picnic areas. It also serves as an incredible spot to tie the knot at as well. So for those of you who want those desert vibes but really don’t want to cut out a guest list or want to invite a few more people than the parks would allow, check them out as an option to host your wedding!
Dead Horse Point State Park Elopement
From there, we headed out to Dead Horse Point State Park. To be honest, my jaw dropped when we arrived. The most beautiful views I think I have ever seen. They got married at Cliffside, one of the designated spots that you can rent out when planning a Dead Horse Point Elopement. The views there are very similar to the grand canyon. You get a stunning view of the Colorado River and Canyonlands National Park. The fact that they allowed their dog to be present during their day was the best. Charlie, their pup, was the absolute cutest and he was loving every second of being out there with his humans. Jacob and Stephanie said their vows at cliffside then we went to another area of the park to finish up their portraits at sunset. The hues that radiated from the desert were gorgeous.

When we finished, we headed back to Under Canvas for a few night portraits before I left for the evening. This day was perfect in so many ways. It was so wonderful being about to spend the day with Jacob, Steph, and Charlie and capture this for them.
