Aspen Colorado Elopement
Alli and Coulter
The most beautiful day with Alli and Coulter in Aspen happened this May. Every second was amazing. We explored a hiking trail near town and they said their vows with the most gorgeous of mountain backdrops. If you are considering having an Aspen Elopement you absolutely should! It had been years since I shot a wedding in Aspen so it was incredibly fun exploring new spots with these two.
Eloping in Aspen
The day before the actual wedding I got to town and met up with the two of them to go scout out the location. I could not believe what gorgeous of a spot existed and literally 10 minutes from town. It also wasn’t an insanely strenuous hiking trail which was perfect as they are expecting so we didn’t need to be hiking anything crazy. I double checked with the Aspen ranger station that we didn’t need any special permitting for this Aspen Elopement and it was a go! To all of you couples out there wanting to elope in Colorado, you always want to check if you need to pay a fee, or if you are even allowed to have a wedding (even just the two of you) on whatever land / trail system you plan to use.
The Wedding Day in Aspen
I started the day out hanging out with Coulter for a bit at his family home in Aspen. I truly love when couples get ready at their family homes. It can bring such a personal aspect to their day. Being from the area, Coulter and Alli knew that they had to have an Aspen Elopement in this spot that means so much to them. This is the very trail that Coulter proposed to Alli on. So it was the perfect spot to say their vows. After meeting Coulter I headed over to see Alli at the Little Nell. The Little Nell is one of my favorite hotels in Aspen and is such a great spot to book your wedding suite! It also makes for an amazing wedding venue for bigger events. Their wedding deck is magical. Alli and I headed up to the trailhead as soon as she was done getting ready. We arrived a little bit before Coulter did for their Aspen Elopement and the first thing we noticed was a little bit of smoke up on the mountain. I knew that they had been doing prescribed burns up there all week as the ranger station told me when I reached out. So the two of this thought this may be a part of the prescribed burn. We waited for Coulter to arrive and when he did I took him to get placed for their first look. By the time I walked back to my car to get Alli multiple Aspen Fire and Rescue had arrived. That smoke we saw was definitely not a prescribed burn happening and was a full on wildfire. Thankfully, it was small, and we were totally safe. We talked to a few of the firefighters and they confirmed we were totally fine to be in the area we were in as it was already being contained. But definitely gave us a little bit of a scare.
Once that little adrenaline rush was over we continued on with the most perfect wedding day. I witnessed the two of them say the sweetest of vows to each other. And when Coulter bent over and kissed Alli’s baby bump, oh my heart. It was just the sweetest moment ever. You guys… this day was so incredibly perfect.
