Boulder Colorado Elopement at Settlers Park
Kelly and Brian
Holy moly friends.. I can’t say enough awesome things about Kelly and Brian. Or about their Boulder Colorado Elopement. Totally down to earth couple with the sweetest pup I have ever met. They’re like the most rad set of people that you just can’t help but want to be friends with. Actually all of their friends are the kind of people you just can’t help but want to be friends with. And it was because of two of their friends, Tyler and Alex, that I got introduced to them in the first place. I had the pleasure of shooting Tyler and Alex’s engagement session last fall in Vail. Check out just how amazing their fall colors session was HERE.
A few details I have to bring up that just make them so fun.. First off, Kelly decided she didn’t really want a dress and had the most incredible jumpsuit made for the occasion. Like I think this is the coolest thing I have ever seen a bride wear to a wedding. And literally the night before the elopement they threw a fun Decade Party and had their friends come over, each couple dressed in a different time period. You bet I offered to come and take some photos for a few minutes of their dinner. Because hello?! That was the coolest idea ever lol. (don’t worry I will show some of those photos at the end of this post because it’s just too good not to!). But really… they’re just kind of awesome humans.
Their Boulder Denver Elopement
And man did these two have the best Boulder Colorado Elopement the next day.
They were down for anything. When they two of them first reached out we scheduled a call and chatted about all the possible spots we could use. We considered locations as far as Vail, and as close as Boulder. Of course lost gulch was a spot that at first we wanted. Don’t get me wrong, Lost gulch is amazing. (You can see this lost gulch elopement I shot last year HERE). But we ultimately decided on a park in Boulder that stays pretty light traffic wise. (if you have never been to Lost gulch on a nice day in the summer in the evening, you should go and experience just how crazy that location gets. And it makes the word busy sound like an understatement).
In Addition to Boulder, the two of them actually decided that that they would be doing majority of their wedding day with friends in Denver. So really, this was kind of a half Denver Colorado Elopement half Boulder Colorado Elopement. And they rented a party bus to get to and from the locations. It was great.
Settlers Park in Boulder
This park is so underappreciated in Boulder. Really, It is kind of a hidden gem. I think of it as a mini garden of the gods in my own backyard of Boulder. And it is the PERFECT spot for a Boulder Colorado Elopement because it is almost never crowded. We had perfect weather on a thursday evening and we saw a total of 4 people in the park that day. On the Saturdays I have been in the park, it still wasn’t busy. I guess I should clarify my idea of busy is the amount of people I see strolling through chautauqua or hiking up mount sanitas. And for good reason. Those spots have ample hiking trails and are some of the most popular locations for local hiking. While Settlers park does have hiking trails, it just isn’t as full of trails as other locations as it is relatively small.
Denver Colorado Elopement Party at The Ramble Hotel
So I mentioned earlier that these two split their day between Denver and Boulder. One of the best things about Eloping or having a really really small wedding is that you can pretty much do whatever your heart desires. If you want to get ready at a bad ass hotel downtown and then drive 45 minutes to another location and hike to a cool spot and say your vows… YOU CAN! and no one will be waiting on you, and you won’t be stressed out, because you are just going with the flow of the day. Pretty epic right?
Well that’s exactly what Kelly and Brian did. I call this a Boulder Colorado Elopement because they did say their vows at the top of a trail in Settlers Park. But they spent the majority of their day getting ready, doing a first look and having dinner down in the RINO area of Denver.
We started their wedding day at The Ramble Hotel. (You guys… if you haven’t been you need to GO CHECK OUT THE RAMBLE! It’s amazing). This location just suited them perfectly. They are originally from NY. And if you don’t know, there is a bar called Death and Co. This bar originated in NYC in East Village, Manhattan. Now at the Ramble in Denver, there is also a Death and Co. So it just was the best spot and so fitting for them to have chosen that hotel as the starting point.
The Ramble and RINO district
Once ready, Kelly and Brian made it a point for their first moment to see each other to be in that bar Death and Co. downstairs at the Ramble. Talk about the perfect location. It is a dark moody bar and full of all the best vibes. The other coolest thing I love so much about the Ramble Hotel, is that they have this epic rooftop garden with a giant sign that says “WISH YOU WERE HERE”. They allow the garden to be rented out by the hour. If you need a spot to say some vows for a Denver Colorado Elopement, I suggest the Rambles Garden. Even though we didn’t utilize the space for their elopement, that was our backup location. Always good to have a backup spot, you just never know about the weather sometimes in Colorado.
After their first look we hopped on the party bus up to Boulder. Made a pit stop literally on the way to their apartment to get their dog, Mazy. We hiked up for about 15 minutes to a secluded spot. We found a runner on the trails and asked him to video their ceremony, he did! (Thanks Gene! lol). We took some kick ass photos then hiked down and got back on the bus. Dropped their sweet Mazy pup back home, then headed to Cart Drive in Rino for Dinner. …Yeah… Their Denver Colorado Elopement / Boulder Colorado Elopement was literally the best day ever.
