Garden Of The Gods Couples Maternity Session

Garden Of The Gods Maternity Session
What a gorgeous day for a Garden of the Gods Maternity Session. Not 24 hours before this, it was windy and freezing and so foggy you couldn’t even see Pikes Peak in the background. Not that Garden of the Gods could ever not be gorgeous, but I do love the gorgeous view of Pikes Peak at Sunrise!
Matt and Kristen came out from Dallas for their Baby-moon and knew this was the perfect location for their Garden of the Gods maternity Session. Kristen reached out via instagram and I was so stoked to hear they were coming to town. We share many of the same mutual friends back home in Dallas so she was already familiar with my work. When they told me their plans to stay in Colorado Springs, choosing to get up early for their Garden of the Gods Couples Maternity Session was a no brainer.
Shooting at Sunrise
For those of you who aren’t familiar with Garden of the Gods, it is an iconic park in Colorado Springs. It is both beautiful at Sunrise and Sunset and you really can’t go wrong picking this location for your photo session, or even your wedding. Did you know you can actually get married in the park? I prefer sunrise for almost any event here and this is why…
1. You avoid all of the crowds that are there later in the afternoon.
2. In the summer, Colorado is known for their afternoon rain storms. Having your session or wedding in the morning can drop your chances of rain by a long shot!
3. The colors on the mountains in the morning are just GORGEOUS! The alpenglow is really a site to see
4. Lastly, if you are shooting in the summer, you can beat the heat by shooting earlier in the day.
