Sunrise Lost Gulch Elopement

Rachel + Alex’s Lost Gulch Overlook Elopement
Damn you guys… I can’t even begin to express how beautiful Rachel and Alex’s Lost Gulch Overlook Elopement was! But first… Let me tell you a little bit about Alex and Rachel. These two cuties met in 2017 in NYC. Rachel was working as an actor, and had just done a play with someone who had been writing a musical with Alex as the composer. It took them a few months to build up the courage to speak to each other. But was 100% worth it. Ever since their first date, they never went a single day without seeing each other unless one of them had to go out of town. Can we all agree that’s kind of the cutest ever?!
Well, during this past year they stayed extremely locked down during the height of the pandemic in New York. They figured if they could make it through a year of lockdown with only each other as company, they could probably make it through anything. Thus, they decided to tie the knot! So they did some research and decided on a Sunrise Lost Gulch Overlook Elopement
Alex and Rachel still live in Astoria, Queens, because the neighborhood has the most amazing food. They spend a lot of spare time watching vloggers eat and talk about the food at Disney parks. And they spend a lot of time watching reality dating shows. They aspire to one day have a ridiculous amount of dogs. During their Lost Gulch Overlook Elopement, we actually had some dogs run up to them just as they kissed. Rachel kept saying that was them being blessed. It was kind of the most incredible thing ever.
Sunrise Lost Gulch Overlook Elopement
I cannot stress enough how busy Lost Gulch gets. And how pretty much the only time I will suggest this location for a Lost Gulch Overlook Elopement is in the wee hours of the morning. Sunrise is by far the best time for anyone to do a photo session or elopement. You beat most of the crowds this early and it makes it a little more private. Even tho we did a sunrise elopement, we still had to work around 2 other couples that were up there doing the same thing. In the evening time, you can easily have 8+ different couples up there trying to make it all work for their session. And let me tell you.. Lost Gulch is not a huge location with tons of space to move around. So if you are considering using this spot for your Lost Gulch Elopement, don’t even wonder if you should do evening or morning… Just opt for Sunrise time 😉

For this particular day, we started the morning nearly 30 minutes before the sun came up. This is the best time to start a sunrise session or elopement. We spent about an hour up at Lost Gulch Overlook and then we headed down the mountain to Chautauqua park to finish their portraits. And holyyyy moly you guys! Chautauqua park was as beautiful as ever. It made for such a gorgeous backdrop for their photos. Did you know you can also elope in Chautauqua park? Yup! And it’s pretty awesome as well. Just take a look at this Chautauqua Park Elopement I did last year!
