Waking up at 3:30 AM to capture a sunrise engagement session at Maroon Bells… Totally worth it. Lindsay & John just got engaged about a week prior to this session after an epic skydive down in TX. Seriously the coolest proposal ever. Lindsay had actually reached out a few months back as she kind of knew the proposal was coming. As soon as it did she contacted me and told me they were going to be in Glenwood Springs and wanted their engagements captured while they were in town. We thought about a few different locations throughout the area and ultimately decided to do a sunrise session at Maroon Bells. It was absolutely magical.
Sunrise is one of the best times to shoot at Maroon Bells. The crowds are minimal and the light is amazing. The Alpenglow is a sight that I feel everyone needs to see at least once in their life. Not to mention it makes for one gorgeous backdrop for a photoshoot. Even as early as 5:30 in the morning the parking lot up at Maroon Bells can get a little crowded from early morning hikers and overnight backpackers. We drove up from Aspen at about 5:00AM and got there at the perfect time to start shooting. It was so cold at about 40 degrees and when we left at around 7 it was still in the high 40’s. Even with the late summer morning chilly-ness, it was worth every second to capture such beautiful images.
