Some sessions stay with you forever, and this one with Mike and his sweet pup, Joplin, is one I’ll never forget. Mike reached out to me last minute to see if I was available for Denver pet portraits, knowing their time together was coming to an end. Joplin had been sick for a while, and although she was given only a few days to live back in June, she proved to be a fighter—holding on for several extra months.
Joplin’s story is full of heart. When she was just a puppy, she contracted Parvo and nearly didn’t make it. Mike named her after the town of Joplin, Missouri—not because she was from there, but because he had volunteered there after an EF-5 tornado ripped through the city. He witnessed hope and resilience in that community, and he carried that same hope for Joplin to pull through. And she did.
This end of life pet photography session took place just a few days before Joplin crossed over the rainbow bridge. Mike had returned home early from a work trip abroad to spend her final days by her side, and I’m so grateful he made it home in time. We captured quiet moments, gentle snuggles, and the deep love between them. I truly believe our pets are not “just pets.” They’re our family—our furbabies. They give us unconditional love, and while they may be just a chapter in our lives, we are their entire book.
If you’ve ever thought about scheduling Denver pet portraits, don’t wait. These are the precious moments you’ll cherish forever. Reach out to book your end of life pet photography session and preserve the love you share with your furry best friend.
