There are some weddings that just stay with you, and Alex and Lauren’s Shupe Homestead Wedding near Boulder, CO, was one of those days I’ll never forget. With golden light, crisp autumn air, and the vibrant colors of fall all around us, their Shupe Homestead Wedding felt like the perfect love letter to Colorado in October. I had the honor of second shooting this wedding alongside my talented friend and fellow photographer, Alyssa Carpenter. Working with her is always such a joy, and this day was no exception.
From the very beginning, it was clear how much thought and heart Alex and Lauren poured into every detail of their day. One of my favorite moments was their first look—it was sweet, emotional, and so perfectly them. They read private vows to each other and took their time having a moment together before the day got crazy. But Lauren didn’t stop there. She also shared a first look with her dad and brothers. When I noticed her dad’s tie, my heart melted. He had a photo of the two of them from when she was a little girl printed on it. Such a meaningful detail that spoke volumes about their bond.
The whole day felt like fall itself was a guest of honor. The warm tones, the cozy October vibes, and the laughter that filled the air. It all came together so beautifully. When the dancing started, they shared their first dance, and then parent dances. The father daughter dance was so emotional and beautiful. Lauren not only danced with her dad, but also her mom which was extra special. Alex danced with his mom and also his grandmother. And then once the real dance party started, there was a moment on the dance floor when someone showed up wearing a Michael Myers mask! Equal parts creepy and hilarious! I was cracking up! Loved so much about this day.
